questions you are dying to ask but are too scared to b/c of music nerd cred?

Perhaps this has come up elsewhere but what's with the reggae obsession with soundboys? Taken on face value it looks like there's some kind of fatwa against them.

Hitting the ground running for finding decent London events.

I'll give the Dubstepforum a look. Samdiamond: These days are flyers really representative of what's going on? I'll be in record shops regardless, so I'll be looking anyways, but would the really small-scale events bother with flyers? Those hidden gems are often the most interesting.

Hitting the ground running for finding decent London events.

Hi all, Looks like I'll be in London from about 1st-9th of June. I used to live there in 2000-2002 and it was easy to find decent events - you just walked into a decent vinyl shop and started looking for flyers. I was back again in 2008 and noticed that there were hardly any flyers, certainly...

What's the deal with the word "wonky"? Did someone ruin the word for everybody? I mustn't have been reading any dance music journalism during its rise and fall.

    Roska!Roska!Roska!Roska!Rosk- ugh, just stop!

Very possibly. Doesn't make it less annoying. You can use any number of tricks to keep people from ripping your tune that don't seem so ... crass. Shame, really, as it's a great mix aside from that. FYI, You can check it out on the BBC website until next Wednesday.

    Roska!Roska!Roska!Roska!Rosk- ugh, just stop!

Just listening to the Roska MAH mix on the Beeb website. Anyone else annoyed with the amount of "Roska!"s that he throws in? Does he think his sound is so bland and generic that he has to constantly remind people who's playing, lest they forget? It's funny - the beginning of that mix even has...

    Do you have Soundcloud OCD?

I'm pretty sure that any legal grey area for live performance is cleared up when you play in venues that pay PRS (or ASCAP/BMI, SOCAN, etc) their yearly fee. Not sure how many venues comply, but that's why that's there. As for mixes... that's still pretty grey. If mixcloud doesn't pay...

Bass Music production blog now online.

Hi all, I've just started a production blog for that stuff that people are calling "bass music", be it dubstep, garage, uk funky or anything bass-centric at around that tempo. It's called Make Some Bass. In 300-500 words or so, producers talk about a track they've made. The first three...

I don't mind the 100meg limit, but then I'm a big fan of being concise. Strange that you can't download, though.

    Do you have Soundcloud OCD?

There's a fine line, though. It's true that it's better, as an artist, to put as much time as possible into actually making music, but at some point you've got to take a few minutes to create a Souncloud or whatever and upload your shit, then send it to at least someone. Anyone on the...

    Do you have Soundcloud OCD?

Hi all! I'm (obviously) new around here. [hand-wavey icon] Recently I started releasing music again, after a period of not giving a shit for a few years. Since I was last doing it I find technology has changed radically. In the "olden days" (2004-2007) my stuff (the Bodega record label, now...
