Shuffling / House Music / Cutting Shapes

really good. i imagine reynolds will love this given the comments on the end of dubstep, him hearing radford as some kind of bridge from dubstep... obviously deep tech was nuum all along, everything always is!

    "Ratchet" / R&Bass / DJ Mustard

i was just thinking how often the deep tech sound palette or w/e crosses into ratchety territory... e.g. the bassline and lead interplay on this:

I think the above resident advisor piece is one of the less good things I've read by Harper, but he is definitely the best writer covering this pocket of modern music, and tbh, electronic music in general at the moment - if only because it's great to read someone writing about electronic music...

    SeaPunk / Chillwave / Nu gaze / Glo-Fi / Molly Pop / Witch Trap / Special Characters

I think it's somewhere between the two - there are absolutely purposefully dated references going on, and I agree with you about there being a slightly hypnagogic vibe, at least in principle. But there are points at which it is gunning for a super-2014 too I think. For instance, there's a bit...

    SeaPunk / Chillwave / Nu gaze / Glo-Fi / Molly Pop / Witch Trap / Special Characters

This post makes me suspect you're not from the UK Crowleyhead but apologies if you are and this sounds condescending, or even if you're not and it's condescending anyway: but wrt how dated they are, a significant chunk of the PC Music aesthetic is (to my mind) very obviously derived from a very...

    the late night city aesthetic

i absolutely fucking love this thread... lots of new stuff for me (didn't know that pet shop boys track and it's sublime), but all weird cousins and analogues of the record that has possibly meant more to me than any other this year, and is a well of the absolute essence of the thread imo...

Best DJs You've Seen Lately/Ever Seen

denoir, how long have you been doing a night in prague? about 4 summers ago i was in prague and attempted to see marcus nasty play somewhere, only to arrive and find that he'd missed his flight. the night was run by an english guy who i chatted to for a while... wonder if it was you? in answer...

How has burial dated for you?

really interesting comments although i can't believe that prog house is the first thing that leaps out at you from rival dealer. maybe because i was too young to experience the horror of it first-hand i'm not getting the same vivid flashbacks. the breakbeat seemed like classic earlyish hardcore...

definitely big techno influence but imo the mix sails straight between uk/hardcore continuum styles and techno... there's a bunch of beneath dubs, commodo on deep medi, cooly g as well as oni ayhun, stl etc think you can hear that in the tunes too tbh

    Jackin' / Electroline

if u are talking about the draig cavid tune wise, i'm not sure i agree... it's got a pretty straight and snappy hi hat snare - where's the syncopated snare? i do see what you mean though. going by their soundcloud the producers clearly think it's jackin also. interesting that it should come...

    Jackin' / Electroline

cheers for that datwun. interesting stuff! enjoying this from the excellently named draig cavid: incidentally they appear to be from essex. who's the biggest southern jackin producer at the moment? are there (m)any of note?

wow >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> thought i'd got fully bored with jackin, but this is a fantastic reminder of how good it can be.

    Jackin' / Electroline

sick will get listening. pantha's got a new alias actually called 'arun verone' - tunes on his soundcloud basically run across the entire house/garage diaspora currently in the uk. this one's pure jackin though! (and my favourite by a mile):

yo so no-one's posted this on dissensus yet i think, but jam city uploaded a load of old (09-11) bits from him (http://www.sendspace.com/file/0c3k62 & http://www.sendspace.com/file/mni6by) i hadnt thought about the old jam city in ages, but pretty remarkable to me how prescient it is w/ regards...
