yeah maybe. but it doesn't register in the same way as in London. Jamaicans etc aren't anywhere near as prominent in the US dna as they are in the UK. puerto ricans yes. Haitians sort-of but not really

not true in Brooklyn. the afro-carribean areas are pretty far from Manhattan though. crown heights, flatbush and canarsie. maybe in the bronx too, I've never got a handle on anything up there

i never know what to say to people who come to visit the UK to have a look around. like ok london there's probably plenty of meat on that bone. but then aside from that it's not obvious. everyone goes to edinburgh, oxford, bath, that shakespeare place whatever its called. but the tourist bits of...

sheffield maybe coz it's both pleasant and interesting (at least i find it interesting). if pleasant isn't a requirement, the train from london to bath stops in reading, didcot and swindon. for a solid tour of grim britannia you could stop off at all of them.

it's hard to work through these resentments. i met a rich arty english guy last night (because my drunk mate had decided to blearily start talking to everyone that walked past whether they liked it or not) and all of that resentment really welled up, i was surprised by how strong it was. i do...

its weird version, i don't hate these people, they're actually pretty nice and they are basically doing what i would've done if money were no object. chatting about ideas and trying to be writers. it's hard to have the same level of resentment in america for whatever reason. i guess it's less...

its hard to describe. to me there's clearly a new way of dressing among the rich young arty people in nyc that's different to what it was a few years ago and that i haven't seen before. its very clean and neat but still distinct. and expensive. nicely cut. and the clothes look new. no-one is...

How would you feel about being set on fire?

there's loads of times that you get treated worse. like everywhere sometimes people just hate you because they have some presupposition about whatever demographic you're in or because they have some grievance with that demographic. i'm not slagging off people from these places that's something...
