Reprezenting the Latinos
first hyperdub, then dutty artz, now masala and ghettobassquake and i'm sure i'm forgetting about countless more.
what i want to ask though is how does this differ from how labels started in the past?
i know warp and rough trade were shops. i belive 4ad was also one too. i no that phonica has started one too but that's hardly setting the world on fire.
what i want to also ask if, does this mean with the decline of shops blogs are now the tastemakers that get a following and decide to make a leap into the scary, cutthroat world of the music business.
is this a good thing as it once again shows the internet decentralising the role of the self, expanding on the idea of a virtual community and whatnot...
were there any others ways famous labels came into being?
