Blawan's evolution from 'the guy who made that one track Blackdown played once that sounded like a vacuum cleaner' to 'THE BIGGEST TECHNO ARTIST OF THE YEAR ACCORDING TO FACT MAGAZINE' is weird, but fascinating. He's gotten so good though.

Which one's that?

In related news, 2012 = the year seemingly everyone made a track that sounded like Blawan.

I remember, I literally asked him like "Okay, it sounds like a cross between Kode9's "Black Sun" and a hand-held vacuum, but then it goes wrong in the best way possible..."

^^^While I enjoy this, I'm fairly certain this 90's garage-house inspired trend is gonna get beaten into the ground very, very quickly by every second "post-dubstep" producer now that the sound's blowing up thanks to the hype around Bicep. I'm probably wrong, but I don't think there's ever been a more shamelessly trend-hopping, generically genre-promiscuous selection of electronic artists than the current wave of "uk bass" producers (barring some obvious exceptions).

Unrelated - The new Juju & Jordash album is really impressive on first listen.

Is this the right place to express a love for the new Disclosure single, 'Latch'? I refuse to post in the post-dubstep/alt-funkstep/intelli-2step thread. I know a lot of people round here don't like them but those people are dead wrong. This new single is immaculate.

Yeah, I've been listening to it on repeat all day- so wonderfully varied.
Yeah, and it's varied in a way that doesn't sound forced at all. There's still a strong unified aesthetic holding it all together.

terrence dixon - from the far future, part 2

(not sure i completely agree with the actress/stott comparison but sounds interesting. checked out clips of the vinyl version on boomkat, a number of different tracks that sound more jeff mills-ish)
