High-Rise is the only Ballard I think I've really liked. The others I've read have been a bit underwhelming despite an intriguing premise. He's more interesting as an aesthetic and in interviews.

Honestly? Absolutely hated it. I'm not even sure why. I watched it with a group of mates and we all thought it was one of the worst films we'd ever seen.

The book's great though.
it looks bad. all those stupid 70s fancy dress costumes.

I liked it at the time, but it's been years. Kill List is probably his best, or was until he made The Meg 2.

The book's great though.
Yeah I haven’t read the book and all I liked about the film was the premise, liked it a lot, and really that’s the one aspect least inherent to the film.

The other Ballard I've read are Crash, The Crystal World and Concrete Island. I haven't chucked them as I'll probably go back to them one day, but I wasn't sold.
