Attacking the ICC for what he said were “illegitimate and baseless” investigations targeting the US and its ally Israel, Trump hit the court with sanctions on Thursday. He ordered asset freezes and travel bans against ICC officials, employees and their family members, along with anyone deemed to have helped the court’s investigations. The names of the individuals were not immediately released, but previous US sanctions under Trump had targeted the court’s prosecutor.

There's just too much going on.

I'm glad I'm not in the US but even I have to admit that there is something refreshing seeing someone just doing stuff that people talk about but never do cos "you can't just do that, there are loads of complications and ramifications and...." whereas Trump just goes fuck it do it anyway. And if it all comes crashing down then I guess the people saying "you can't just do that" were right but at least we'll know for sure.

Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly gave Donald Trump a “golden pager” during their meeting in Washington DC this week, in an apparent reference to Israel’s deadly attack against Hezbollah in Lebanon last year.

In photos circulating online, the golden pager can be seen mounted on a piece of wood, accompanied by a golden plaque that reads in black lettering: “To President Donald J. Trump, Our greatest friend and greatest ally. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”

Israeli media reported that the Israeli prime minister, who is wanted by the international criminal court for war crimes, also gave the US president a regular pager.

The gift was reportedly a nod to Israel’s deadly operation last September against Hezbollah, during which thousands of handheld pager beeper devices and walkie-talkies belonging to Hezbollah detonated simultaneously across Lebanon.

The explosions killed at least 37 people, including children as young as nine years old, and left thousands wounded.

An Israeli official told the Associated Press that upon receiving the golden pager from Netanyahu, Trump, responded: “That was a major operation.”

Trump is dismantling the Aid stuff cos he thinks it works against US interests, you are celebrating its loss cos you think that it spread US softish power colonialism. I think there is an issue there cos you can't both be right. And you're probably both wrong as usual.

I mean Musk and his virgin army have got their collective proboscis buried deep into the US financial brain so if there any crimes we should see some arrests you'd think, but as so far all we've got is Trump confusing money spent by wonks on subscriptions to news agencies with a sinister plot to control the media I'm not that hopeful. I reckon we'll get lots of noise about corruption and lots of trumpoids slurping that up and frigging themselves stupid, but I've got a tiny suspicion that once again there will be nothing concrete.

If it's just that they got some historically bad deals on subscriptions; you would think that once you're bulk-buying them you'd get a reduction, not having to spend millions to sign up to some website.

It appears to be the wholesale dismantling of a global propaganda network, the defunding of fifth columnists and anti-democratic elements. The ocean we've all been swimming in for decades, pretty big and highly effective for as long as the money taps were turned on.

If the US taxpayer was providing 8% of BBC revenue there are grounds to re-run our election - it's called "foreign interference", you may have heard of it.
