It's quite a ferment, and not surprising that it calls for interpreters and seers...
Yeah we can't pretend that online discourses don't alter people's behaviors, interpretations of behaviors, desires, interpretation of desires, etcthe other thing that's going on is that all this gender stuff is pretty unavoidable, at least in the real-life circles i move in, because people bring it up all the bloody time as a topic or an annotation to conversation. so you kind of need to take a position on it, or at least figure out a good way to maneuver around it.
I guess I'll read both, like I did with the Shon Faye and Kathleen Stock ones.
I have never liked Laurie Penny that much, but I guess they may have got better.
it's more or less the main thing that's going on culturally at the moment i think. sometimes people are still ashamed of it, but the movement of ideas you've read online into real-life conversational space is a step-changeYeah we can't pretend that online discourses don't alter people's behaviors, interpretations of behaviors, desires, interpretation of desires, etc
Ben Watson had her reading from it at the Betsey Trotwood on Friday. I wasn't there. I think I was hungover that day. it's being broadcast on Resonance this Wednesday though.
i assume his reasons are personal and not political
i didn't know this joseph geezer in the old days but i was getting quite into some of the plotlines in that thread. neon barty coming in like a good lad, teaming up with the luka father figure to hold out the olive branch, coaxing him onside, being nice, inviting him to be one of the lads, and then BOOM! six paragraphs of hostility. love it. luka make it happen againi've read this whole fucking thread up to here in one go, and this post is making my laugh my head off. absolutely amazing
i have work meetings where sedate, diplomatic people will totally just tell me to my face that i haven't noticed something coz i'm am man. it's alright, they're probably right, but it's all over the shop in the fancy middle class world i'm ineverybody i talk to is completely insulated from all this stuff fortunately. it never comes up.
yes, i am. i'm also only interested in a life of sex and frivolity. Are you adrift in a state of nihilism, lads? I didn't know i was till only a few seconds ago
give it a go if you likeAbsolute howler this. Is he turning liberal in his old age?
i havent listened to this myself but generally one of the things i like about Ben's band is that its' not age appropriate behaviour.
they're all pensioners and i think its very touching and very sweet to see them get together and play with all their toys and make
silly sounds.
