one of the things that wound people up about me and barty is we used to point out how all the talk about artists was people talking about themselves

i like how our Burial thread is titled 'how has Burial dated for you'

I love burial. I was lying in Hackney marshes at dusk with my mate on Friday night, drunk, sweating and he played come down to us as it was getting dark. Staring at the stars.

thats cos you went to Goldsmiths university. they don't let you go there unless you love Burial. it's an entry requirement.

it was one of those blog favourites i was totally appalled by cos i was comparing it with proper garage and the rhythms sounded so spastic

really amateurish and embaressing. i can hear how other people hear it though. the atmospheres the vocals generate basically, and some swelling strings backing it up, but i can't stop the drums undermining it.

I go through the odd phase, but I listen to him less and less. The records feel frozen in the 2000s in an unpleasant way.

i've got records like that too. associated with periods of time which seems gross and fake like i wasn't even properly alive then

That’s what made them stunning. But unlike the disembodied dance stuff in this thread They’re stil soulful to me

Only the other day I was thinking about when you said (about blawan) that it pulled the indie judo movie of having shit drums and claiming it's deliberate

It's one of the posts I remember most in all my years here for some reason

It was the brandy sampling one

I always hated that cos of the sample (love the original) not the drums but I thought that was a genius attack on indie/dance

I still like burial tbh, although I never liked him as much as other ppl in the dubstep world. I like that he uses samples exclusively, and was using some shit computer program, it made his music closer to that old hardcore/jungle stuff than any of the exquisitely engineered rebore jungle you get nowadays
