I think Im using the pulse to mean whatever affects both the main stream and the fringe by the same stroke, though not necessarily affecting the actual content.
Trap before it blew up?i dont know what the American equivalents are.
i dont think you should. you HAD to know about jungle before everyone else. you had to know about grime before it was called grime. you had to. if you didn't you didnt have your finger on the pulse. i dont know what the American equivalents are.
Is the pulse even human at this point? I mean, if we consider the avant-garde to be more or less exhausted, where does the cutting/disrupting edge lie? In increasingly singular technologies, that might not even be catering to us at this point? If it isn't catering to us, that might explain why its all just capping out at consumer optimization - which technically is catering to us, but only superficially, no?
I'm probably getting a bunch of things mixed up that are better off sorted out, but hopefully someone finds a valuable question in there.
If the origin is before the curve/trend, and if that is where the pulse is, then having your finger on the pulse amounts to knowing the mainstream and where it is heading, no? This does seem to be far more acute than merely knowing the mainstream.gets back to the question: is the pulse at the origin stage, or when it goes mainstream?
An aspect of this thread that's been neglected is whether it's important to keep in touch with the tastes and opinions of the masses. Should we be glancing at The Sun, The Mail etc? Should we watch the odd Marvel film? Should we keep an eye on whatever's trending on social media?
