i privelege the unconscious to quote an email to a young poet i wrote today eg

internal rhymes and other nifty sound effects always crop up gratifyingly when you write at speed (if youre on form)
it's one reason why i put more faith in unconscious process than an attempt to consciously control everything
the effects i get when im in semi trance are way more sophisticated and pretty than if i deliberately try to create them

How should I know?

You should read the prelude though, or at least the first couple of books, it's great.

tapping into something larger, wiser and more ancient than i am is my idea of poetry and that is probably a romantic notion

im not convinced you can do it with intellect you have to be mouthpiece for logos. you cant make it up, as i always say to edmund

How do you get into these trance states?
