They are proud of their produce, most of it justifiably so though. They will bring out some prawns and go "check this out" and you will be like yeah this is fucking good. Maybe they will serve some green wine with it too and you'll be like "Two minutes ago I didn't even know what green wine was but now I know what it is and I like it and it goes really well with seafood, wow" and then perhaps some red wine from the Dao region or even from Alantejo if you're lucky... and you will enjoy that too and so on. And then maybe after dinner you go to a bar and you have some Sagres and after one mouthful you will throw up everything you have eaten... no, that is obviously a gross exaggeration, it's just a very bland fizzy beer but it always surprises met that, given the above, they don't have one that is really great.
But was it nice? Normally in and around Lisbon they tend to do it cut into strips and then battered, it's quite tasty if it's done well but it's not the most exciting dish in the world. I have also had it just sort of like they do with octopus. Never had it in its ink though I thought that was more of a delicacy though.
