1970's Moyobamba, peruvian jungle, psychedelic cumbia from the Amazonas, sometimes sounds funky, hypnotized guitar, latin percussions.... totally tasty like a fruit from the jungle.
I remember going through down a rabbit hole of afro-peruvian compilations a while back, thinking that the dramaturgic reflex of these musicians is just way way more sophisticated that anything i'd ever heard before. Not something I would look for in music normally but it was fun to listen to and it lasted a good while that feeling that I could settle in and let deepen and widen. Story telling music. Little arcs hidden everywhere in the melody, intonation, percussion shifts. Transcendence in the habitual, normalcy. The line between local and cosmic very strong and always there.
These vocals are impossible, especially when she gets to the chorus
