It was a good week for the compilation
Was listening back to everything so far from most recent back to first Sid V ,
- and there is quite a bit happening among the art and music feeling a pent up force forward to seeing this through.
Looking forward, all tracks come in during May,
something promotional , ahead of the full moon eve be it the 25th or 26th ?
Some initial writeup, with sounds ? at least an announcement saying this is happening ?
to be figured out, some org - semi organized ways to get the word out ...
Formats.
Digital.
Here in US / global, Bandcamp is still seemingly a best option and they do pay.
There are other options say Cassette tape ( this project doesn't seem to be asking to be on tape - although it could never hurt,
or vinyl or CD ( only in Japan by now )
It will always be one click away, always available.
A second stage / other option in addition to making a bandcamp -
VInyl would seem proper !
we could research, how much to make a white label 12" or - this would have to be an Album.
Thoughts : Vinyl could be something to aim for
$ coming in from sales of people downloading the comp. can go for Dissensus costs ?
And to Artists.
Here is something you all who contribute can consider -
You experienced artists and everyone who makes tracks , you already know about music publishing, your rights, copyright and such.
For those who have never made a track and had it on a release, well, this can be a low barrier to entry opportunity to become a track maker' > Song writer > Music publisher .
Some may not want to sign to a ASCAP or BMI, as we have here in US ,
UK has PRS ?
Promo.
Best thing is get some reviews of the comp. -
i already hear some pretty cool things, may have done well to feel a freestyle
post Sars relief collection- that's pretty interesting right there.
* Also am liking pattycakes texts as well, his stories on the pieces,
that can be all put together on a page for the project.
Good to generate some text and graphics going forward into May
Online flier announcement,
later, Midsummer's Night flier for online Mix night ?
What's good about establishing a bandcamp, the music is sold, money comes in
- maybe Dissensus already has some fiscal body ?
If not, not difficult to look into it and royalties go into it , to be dished out when they come in.
* When i joined ASCAP in NYC back in '80's since then they send me my money.
Usually not much in each quarter , sometimes though there is a movie played again on Cable that nets you some money. I like reading the accounting, where the music was bought, who reported it, direct into my account.
When , if, you feel to join a publishing entity your work can be more protected,
your song or track is there on record at the publishing house / entity.
Because another good factor towards considering to do a DIssensus Bandcamp
say, is then any other future Editions can have a home there too, plus literally any spin offs, Dissensus Raw Tracks exclusives, remixes could all be accessed in one place
Thoughts on Bandcamp , other places to get the music to , who will like it ,review it ?
one further thought if things go well, there are things like having Youtube channel and so on , but honestly, from Artist POV, i kind of hate those companies - Youtube, FaceBook and Spotify.
Because of how little they pay - or don't pay at all.
The situation now is , if i release a vinyl record on a European label, the distributor sends it onto to Spotify, so they have most records i have done.
The upside there is people def can - possibly - find out about your music there.
Thanks to all who dreamed up this idea and who are taking part -
It's all very doable
