I get what you're trying to say but again he's not a rapper he's a singer first and I suppose rapper 2nd, its the same reason why I don't consider Zac de la Rocha a rapper because he got his start in hard-core before he started bringing in those flows

It's not their initial root is what I'm saying

I get that definition of rapper now has changed and spread out so much that guys like beck and the barenaked ladies guys would probably be considered rappers when at the time they weren't seen as such but come on man

Beck was out here making "anti-folk" before he was linking with the dust brothers

I'm just saying to call them rappers doesn't hold up because it's a very surface level definition of "a rapper" he's "rapping" over beats because that's general idea of what they do but the further you to into it it calls apart

It's why comparing rap groups to punk bands never work
