Yeah based on what I saw, they both seemed to do alright based on their respective standards, IE Harris was sensible and moderate (if platitudinous) and Trump was aggressive and based (if incoherent). I didn’t see all of it but we watched some of it together, the housemates that is. Nothing unexpected, but it did produce some excellent soundbites.

That's what I thought. It seems like a bit of a performance thing, not really a proper debate with no real engagement or questions answered, just kinda shouting their talking points over each other, both sets of supporters saying that their candidate won. As a rule has minimal effect on voting intentions right?

Yeah I have a tough time imagining who exactly had their mind changed by anything in that debate, aside from maybe sensible republicans who have become alienated by trumps schtick.

watched the first hour. my heart sank in the first five minutes. kamala was nervous you could hear it in her voice. she was taking deep breaths before each sentence, it sounded like a muse song. you could hear her voice waver. for the first fifteen minutes she looked like she was trying to remember her lines. she looked like someone nervously trying to do a powerpoint. but she found her feet and the words got more and more fluent. and she kicked the shit out of trump from what i could see. they've finally found a way to deal with him. and he doesn't have the heart for it all anymore. it doesn't look like he enjoys it now. the lines about democrats murdering infants like herod and foreigners eating household pets were absolutely brilliant. i biked home through the east village, it was a beautiful evening. in the bars as i biked past i could hear the remainder of the debate playing out. in my building i could hear it coming out of people's flats. i spoke to the albanian super who hardly speaks english and i said 'i think she's winning', and he said 'maybe.....i don't like her'. then he continued snacking on a local cat
