The Media Controls Your Mind

Mr. Tea

Let's Talk About Ceps
Astrology , horoscopes, superstition and fortune-telling are all actions of ignorance which Islam came to show as false and to explain that they are acts of polytheism.

Finally, the voice of reason.

other/alternative media formats exist

eg black folks are very popular in advertising currently as if the agencies running capitalism’s pr engines have had to open the valve upon realising their survival depends on some form of pc representation, even if such actions only change the lot of black actors jobbing for advertising gigs

where does advertising situate itself in media? its funding underpins masses of it, so, buy the world a coke just do it domino-ho-hoes mmmm Danone (or something)
downs syndrome is the latest thing you cant have an ad without a downs syndrome in it.

every now and then i come across someone in real life who starts talking and its obvious that they've gone down some kind of internet rabbit hole, spent too long with some podcaster or another in their earbuds, got locked into a particular subreddit, latched onto a powerful idea or worldview. i've done it myself obviously a few times. i think it reveals a sort of lack or a kind of sadness. some libidinal need that the ideas are filling. one thing that does seem quite empowering for loads of people is the discovery that some of the things they are experiencing on a day to day basis are i) shared by other people and / or ii) not their fault, ie are some kind of 'structural' force that they are subject to. for me reading k punk on the wounds of class helped me understand a lot and was genuinely helpful. i see a lot of women benefiting from a similar thing when feminism dawns on them. it seems like a clear parallel. but it comes from a hurt place. and then of course one thing that absolutely everyone is doing is going overboard into these realizations and having their wounds soothed by them at the expense of a less self-centered worldview
What are some of the rabbit holes people seem to go down?

I spend loads of fishing tackle but nobody needs to just to enjoy a day fishing, it depends how much you get into it. It's better to learn the basics before buying anything expensive, it's easy to end up like me "all the gear, no idea".

I like to fish in a variety of different places with different methods to keep it interesting and a challenge so need a range of tackle. Compared to some hobbies, like golf, it's reasonable as I've never spent more than £220 on a rod. A lot of people moan YouTube is full of tackle companies trying to sell them their latest stuff, but I reckon there's just as many that do videos for fun, including the sponsored anglers pushing stuff.

I'm primarily a coarse angler but just getting into proper Carp fishing, and that's costing a bit. I'm going to pay £370 x2 for two Carp rods. I could get one cheaper but prefer to buy good, buy once.

Probably the most expensive bit of tackle you can buy is a Pole. They go up to 16m long and you play fish off elastic in the end rather than off a reel. The high end ones are as much as £4000. I can't justify getting one as it doesn't suit my style of fishing at the moment. I had a cheap 13m one as a kid, but now all I need is an 8m Margin Pole that cost £160.

Paternoster is a good rig and there's road just down from my tackle shop called Paternoster Road or something. I'm always spotting stuff like that, eg Hemplands Road in Stourbridge (we use hemp as a bait sometimes).

Never seen Mick Harris on the bank but he's done some tunes about local venues.

Overdepth being a fishing reference I presume.

Mind itself is not what Moloch's interested in, it wants the bodies. That's why those materialistic explanations - no matter how kooky - are at least pointing in the right direction. I'm not qualified to untangle the mind-body relation, but that's not even important in this case.
What is important is the fact that any kind of propoganda will eventually take hold of the body, which is the real aim, because no one's interested in our puny minds otherwise the mechanisms of control would have never moved beyond rhetoric.
In its current form it probably starts with Jane Fond doing aerobics, which also nicley coincides with mass adaption of VHS. The Cult of Health. People spending their lives running treadmill. Anorexia. Laxatives.
The trans issue is just a different expression of the same principle - hijacking of the body. Right wingers have their own versions of this, of course. Doing deadlifts until their guts fall out through their ass or something like that.
But you could go on and on - snapchat filter dysmorphia, plastic surgery disasters, body positivity (cult of fatness basically), facial tattoos or whatever. What is the unifying principle is that it has to take hold of your body, so the question is why no to do it directly when (and if) possible?

pass the sick bucket
When are you going to find that paper for me? You know, the one that associates larger numbers of vaccinations with better general health?

with regard to taking measures such as quarantine and seeking medical treatment, this is indicated by the teachings and practice of our Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), as he instructed us to seek medical treatment, and highlighted the importance of taking precautions against infection; he instructed us not to put sick camels with healthy camels, and not to travel to a land where a plague is occurring.
The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Seek medical treatment, for Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, has not created any disease but He has also created a remedy for it, except for one disease: old age.” narrated by Ahmad (17726) and the authors of as-Sunan, Abu Dawood (3855), at-Tirmidhi (2038), and Ibn Maajah (3436). Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.
And the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever eats seven ‘ajwah dates in the morning, will not be harmed by any poison or witchcraft that day.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5769) and Muslim (2057).
Al-Bukhaari (5771) and Muslim (2221) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “No sick camel should be put with a healthy one.”
And the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “If you hear of the plague in some land, do not enter it, and if it occurs in a land where you are, do not leave it.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5728) and Muslim (2218).

I like this but the focus on the body is misdirection, intended to occlude the fact that we are all immortal spirits connected to the overmind, as any wise man know.

... a bulwark against subliminal or other messaging is to develop a strong sense of self...

We cannot, from within that ecosystem, restore old behavioral norms or develop new and better ones. No, to find a healthier alternative, we must cultivate what the great American novelist Thomas Pynchon calls “temporal bandwidth” – an awareness of our experience as extending into the past and the future.

In Pynchon’s 1973 novel Gravity’s Rainbow, an engineer named Kurt Mondaugen explains that temporal bandwidth is “the width of your present, your now … The more you dwell in the past and future, the thicker your bandwidth, the more solid your persona. But the narrower your sense of Now, the more tenuous you are.”

Given the way current communications reduce everything to the instant, it's no wonder we're falling prey to the media.

absolutely anything obviously. there are small ones and big ones. specific things that come to mind: someone i know talking about how they want a higher salary so that they can spend it on supplements; some dude i was on a new years day walk with suddenly going on about the failures of socialism in Venezuela; feminist talking points erupting into conversations out of nowhere; my otherwise normal mate who went on a men's rights training thing in the woods; digital nomads; a mate of a mate who had an ultimately terminal illness and refused any non-homeopathic treatment; my brother somehow starting to talk about how modern architecture is rubbish and how classical buildings are better; my own frequent interjections for a few years about class politics and inequality.

From a visual stress perspective this is objectively true: the newer the architecture the less natural its forms and so the harder the brain has to work.
