and THIS is why i often wonder why anyone pays attention to mr reynolds on grime, great writer and thinker though he is.

a bit unfair on Simon; he treats blissblog as a sketchpad and proving ground for ideas and musings; his blog posts are not meant to be fully tidied up and researched articles. if he was writing a full article, he'd research things much more thoroughly; indeed, he tends to be EXTREMELY thorough when it comes to his print journalism.

yeah i was going to retract my comment, as i keep making promises to myself not to be snide on the internet anymore, and i would've retracted it, buuuut... it's just such a ubiquitous word, i find it baffling. it's not a question of when or if you do your background 'research' in this case, it's just if you listened to grime, you would know that word.

yeah i was suprised about simon and shower
but the whole shower terminology comes from shower posse a ja/usa coke running gang who used to just spend bullets without really caring who they hit hence the shower stuff.
so i guess shower face/ man is the guy that does that and the face of someone just letting rip in an aggy cathartic way.

in fairness though, hes said many times that he doesnt listen to it, doesnt want to and *hasnt* done for a few years, so it probably shouldnt be surprising that he doesnt know.

Can anyone do me a favour? I've been intending to do a grime 2007 mix splicing actual records w/ clips from pirate radio and hopefully the whole thing will be totally shower, but I can't find either Soulfood CD for the life of me (I think they're in my car which is back home).

Does anyone feel like uploading a few tracks- that one with the 'Taliban!' vocal sample, the War Report where he's going on about Marcus Nasty in Aiya Napa, and the one afterwards about leaving Roll Deep (i think it's called 'Saw It Coming' but I can't remember...) Would be much appreciated!

I know it's just a youtube thing, but I hope Skepta's not gonna go down that route. I was worried when he was on Logan's show talking about how he was going to simplify his MCing that he'd take it too simple... I thought he got the balance perfect on Greatest Hits, but he sounded gash on that vid.

i think he took it too simple at times on GH.

that cd was almost clinical sounding, in the way everything in his vocals was so damn precise.

i think he and a lot of grime mcs should just record their albums or mix cds like they would a radio set.
