Anyone seen The Game (1997)? It's silly, but I enjoyed it and it did wrong-foot me at the end. The idea of the game itself is irresistible, one of those classic things of "Are we inside or outside?".
Michael Douglas is interesting. He doesn't seem to have anything, but he does have something. I can't quite put my finger on it. I've liked him in this, Wonder Boys, Wall Street and maybe a few more I can't recall. He's an actor that just never seems to come to mind until I see him in something then I get drawn back into the loop of "Why do I never think of him?".
We started watching this and turned it off but it looked like one you could get into if you had a better attention spanFirst Cow
Got an hour and a bit in during a rare window to chill, slow paced realist wonder so far, opposite vibe to a film like Dead Man/Jarmusch. Have to finish. And breathe
I expected it to end ambiguously, but it didn't. They gave you a very definite answer. What about the end wrong footed you?
And also this fun slasher with KinskiTourist Trap was fun and sent me down a bit of an 80's horror franchise rabbit hole, also watched Puppet Master's by the same director which was pretty odd.
One of the most chaotic films I've ever scene. I dunno how he pulled it off. Had to keep reminding myself it was Welles as it felt so radically different to everything else I've seen of his. Amazing he was able to do something that inventive and modern three decades into his career.I watched 'The other side of the wind' a few weeks ago and that's really good as well.
