New house tune, any views?

The beat's really clean, but lonely. Think you need to bring the other elements up to saturate the song more, without sounding full enough the drums being that forward (and clean) sound a bit cheesy.

I've got two new ~130bpm/techno/garage-sih cuts.

I keep revisiting this and having more laughs. Something about the weird robo voices makes it much better than it could be. Cheers for the link.

What do you mean by not sounding full enough? Do you mean they don't have enough bottom end?

www.myspace.com/valutan - wouldnt mind some critique. Working on a new ablum right now, possibly a double, will be more influenced by grime, d'n'b, ghettotech, hyphy and such.

Your songwriting is great. I love the sound of your vox as well. Fits really well with the moody dark vibe of the music. Production-wise, you could probably make the vox more present, unless you are going for a somewhat muffled distorted sound. Compression seems all over the place on some songs. Probably an unsupervised plug-in going wild.

I'd totally go to a concert of yours if you should play in London.

I can't imagine what you'd sound like doing Ghettotec.

I love the sounds you use. One think I'd recommend is to use a bit more variation in your beats. Currently, in both tracks, the drums just plod along without communicating with other musical changes, like sound changes or harmonic development. I don't think you need to much even, just the odd anticipation here, a break there ... that would do the trick.

Thanks. It's nice to hear someone likes the vox, it's what we get most criticized for, but they really are a important part of the concept, both the singing and the lyrics. As far as the mixing, to be honest i'm quite crap at it but i'm getting better and it will be easier to do now when we make shorter tunes without 30-40 channels at once. And yeah the new stuff will be crazy...

Actually know you from Whoa. I like the new Ep, though i wish i could download it instead of just listening to it on myspace. "No point" is the best one, crazy rhythm, but i want more bassdrum. "Hide shit" is too much of a dubstep enigma for my taste. But altogether i like your stuff.

Have done a free EP... I've done 3 solo CDs, but last was ... well, 6 years ago now! Man. It's sort of downbeat woogly stuff. Although the last track is a 500bpm ambient track. ;)

Interested in comments on the production in particular as the CDs I did back in the day were all hardware + MIDI, zero compressors etc. so I often wonder whether I know what I'm doing in the land of plugins and so on.

It's modular stuff. There's a programmable DSP module with things like the processor clock being controllable by CV. That's pretty interesting. Also some crazy multi-layer / multi-direction 4*4 matrix sequencer thing. Ah, good fun.

Slight diversion, but could anyone point me to any resources about soundcards? I know there have been a few threads in the technology section, but search is broken and I can't find them. Just want to get the noises I make on my laptop out to some monitors in a nice sounding manner via firewire really, don't need a million inputs or whatever.
