Kinda reminds me of Reich a bit, the armour against anything soft

I don't think it's that. poly styrene for instance sounds like a cartoon character. I mean that's the appeal. Whereas Anita Baker could definitely be a 'nasty bitch' if she wanted to (and more power to her.) FULL SUPPORT!

I mean Oasis specfically lacking that element of the emotional and musical register, not commenting on female singers in rock or in general

Yes but they lack that register because they can't grow up.

I mean just look at the lyrics of wonderwall, very suspicious.

Do you see The Dialectic at work in Liam and Noel, @thirdform?

This is dialectical. the fantasyof the man who is impressed by the woman in David Bowie, t. rex etc is married to the funk of chicago house and disco. But instead of being a mere combination the contradiction of acid house predominates and forces the glam impulse to be absorbed into the techno chassy. So what we get is this chic machinic sexual joy, an idea of aufhebung in musical form.

Antithesis of football music fwiw or rather the veneer of what it entails

City fans never had any decent songs - it’s just a fact - and miss the ones they could appropriate eg any wannabe Gallagher mop chop can do the bust ass shuffle to this

I think they're pretty average really- it's more about old football dad nostalgia all this- but the performative nature of making a display of how much you hate them, it's probably worse than liking them really

I do actually hate them though. It doesn't keep me up at night but the discourse is reminding me of them and how terrible they are.

This - except I genuinely think the first album and some of the early b sides are magical. I remember being quite disappointed with what's the story and be here now's overblown shitness was gutting.

Got to see them at Maine road which was great but I wish I'd seen them a year or two earlier in a smaller venue.

it’s not hate but it is disdain

imagine Status Quo reforming after an extended hiatus 30 years ago, the fanfare and hype and for what .. some Charles’d-up drunk re-enactments of union jacked™ last night of the proms for people even older than me?

it’s ok to dislike unironically

Reunions are always terrible, remember when the pistols got back together for the filthy lucre tour?

Probably the only reason Oasis are reforming is Noel's apparently got £20 million divorce bill to pay off :ROFLMAO:

A Smiths reunion would be entertaining though.
