The London House scene is a weird one for me personally because I am not involved in it at all. My mates are all into it and I see things and usually just talk about them on here like a dunce
Like the time when I wrote, 'why is everyone standing outside the Aquarium on a Sunday night?'
Anyway, I went to that Intel DJ Comp and one of the DJs was playing House and he had his (not being racist or stereotypical) goon mates with him. They wouldnt look out of place in a garage/westwood/rnb/jungle rave. But the early days, you know. Shades, caps, Polo Tees. Im typecasting.
One thing that wasn't surprising was they made 'boo' sounds when the big bassline tunes came in. I expected that but what was weird was, after the 'boo' sounds they all turned into super cockneys and started shouting 'bosh' and 'fuckkkkk orrrrrrrrffff' I didn't know where to look. It didnt really fit the 'house' vibe.
Moving on, just seen this thing on facebook. Like most real scenes in London, there are usually dances that go with them. All those things that happen in the trendy areas are either full of men stroking their beards or drunk white chicks with no rhythm.
Was driving my brother back from the airport yesterday and had on a House CD in the car and he was like "what? you're into House music now?" all incredulous. After I explained that there are some new tunes with good bass and turned it up loud he seemed to understand.
Thanks for sharing the "Shape Cutters Incorperated" Facebook page above. Interesting to see how the London heads are into the tech and minimal House as oppose to the more cheesy poppy end of the spectrum elsewhere. Especially liked the video posted on Thursday 25th October entitled 'one for the driveway lovers with a lyrical twist (listen) lol!' with the MCing.
Has this Mark Radford style tech house stuff taken off in other parts of the country or is it just big in London now? Don't think we've seen much of it up here
Girl on my facebook - 'Whats all this shuffling Shit i keep hearing about ??? .. Sounds like another reason why I avoid going clubbing in east london as much as possible now'

This shuffle thing has been going on here for years. Is this a new thing in London? I remember years ago I went to this venue in Utrecht and this guy came up to me, established eye-contact and did this shuffle thing right in front of me. It took me a while before realising that people were actually "battling" each other with this "dance". It looks utterly retarded if you ask me and if I'm at a party where people are shuffling it is generally speaking not a good party.
the other side is way better - one of the tracks of the year for me. "trespassers" part 2 - the kick alone is fantastic
pretty angry at sotofett for doing a repress though. i was planning on keeping it for 10 years and then making a mortgage payment on my house in tahiti via discogs paypal.
