Also, there is only one good vr porno to my knowledge.

I've not bothered with it in maybe a year because the headset is a pain.

If it was comfortable to wear and easy to use I'd never bother with regular porn again.

And leaving aside the porn aspect it did open my eyes to how powerful that tech is. Imagine social media but with physical presence, for example.

is it like a first person shooter? that viewpoint?

Yes but fixed, because it's just a stationary camera. They probably can't even move the camera at the moment.

One uncanny effect is looking up and seeing where the image ends, with the less sophisticated cameras that don't film 360 degrees.

It's primitive I suppose.

Really should investigate the VR games world. Don't really want to shell out for it though.

VR will change everything eventually, I think. It's at a very early stage now but once the technology has advanced enough, and become cheap enough to be used by everyone.. There's probably VR art exhibitions already but at the moment I'd assume the cost of making VR art is high, and perhaps the technological knowledge needed to, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's as interesting as art as Disney films are as cinema.

You can look around but the camera is locked in one position.

The really crazy feeling is when somebody moves closer to the camera, leans in, it's really freaky.

The strangeness must also be because you can see this stuff happening, your brain is being tricked on one level, but your body can feel you're not where your eyes tell you you are.

An exhibition hosted in the digital realm where you pay the Tate or whoever's hosting it then stick on a headset and explore it in the comfort of your own home.

As a sidenote, Joyce might not have worked at Google but we can be fairly certain he'd have been all over PornHub (Bacon, too).

Depressing eh.

This is an even more intense example of that disembodied ache we’re on about up thread

There's a cinema app on my one. The illusion of a cinema sized screen is convincing.

That was another thing about it where I thought "well, this is the future for sure - no need to go to the cinema anymore, you'll be able to watch something in IMAX in your living room".

this whole conversation is depressing that and talking and still talking about the earthshattering potential of VR like it's 1993
