Is it because a middle class suburban home is more likely to be stable, and therefore you can slag off your mum because you're less reliant on her as the source of stability/love?

Ditto religion, maybe...

I remember having fuck you mom energy as a teenager and it was always couched in the innate stability of our bond. I knew that I could insult her and she'd still love me, and visa versa.

I lot of the shock/gross out stuff in Eminem was in rap already though. You get it in early Biggie and Nas for instance. its part of the playbook.

That's true. Again, though, the difference is the overtly comical spirit in which Eminem does it. Compare 'Suicidal Thoughts' by Biggie to 'Just the Two Of Us' e.g.

Or maybe it's a question of how it's performed (or how it's received by me, a white guy). Like the Biggie line "Hail mary, full of grace – smack a bitch in the face!" I can imagine that playing as a comedy line but I've never heard it that way.

Then there's the Richard Pryor line Biggie borrowed about "she looks so good, I'd suck on her daddy's dick".

The only way people seem to be able to process it is as a meme though. They seem embarrassed to admit that they like it.

Honestly what's there to express with sincerety for a middle class white man? It seems horribly lame, something to be dunked on on Twitter.

One of the reasons why being an 'ally' is so popular is that it allows white people some vicarious form of earnest expression by proxy of whoever's case you're advocating
