ny times has an article today about how Barrett's appointment may prompt satisfied republicans to become "fat and lazy". a main reason they supported trump is to get a conservative majority on the Supreme Court and they may now become complacent, since they've already used him to achieve what they wanted. not that they will turn into biden voters, but just might not bother to push trump locally or even vote themselves.

I'm still concerned but this made me feel a little better: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2020/10/27/alberta-final-feelings-2020-election-432718

the prospect of Dem court packing would not be a good thing if it continues to be a motivating factor for GOP voters, though. that article was suggesting that the current 6-3 conservative court may make republican voters complacent, they've achieved what they wanted. if they think the prospect of Dem court packing is a real threat, they might get fired up again.

Ted Cruz weighed in on the Hunter Biden story: "I don't think it moves a single voter" - I concur, the attempt was tired and the response lukewarm.
I almost get the feeling that Trump voters and defenders are tired of doing this shit, repeatedly twisting themselves into knots to claim that Trump didn't lie, demanding a proper investigation into Benghazi and so on. Now if you search "obamagate" on twitter you get no hits whatsoever still claiming it's a thing - just a few people laughing about it.
Also - a court has ruled that Trump is not an employee of the US in the way that that word is normally understood and so the DOJ can't defend him in the defamation suit from the woman he definitely raped (allegedly).

Or as someone put it on Twitter... it turns out that rape is not part of his official duties after all (at least if it was committed years before he became president).

winter withered, warm
Any thoughts on if it could be a self-sabotage in the interest of blaming someone/somecountry else, channelling vitriol thereaways?

Just indulging, really. I'm with @version - who knows.

I guess it could be part of their wider strategy to discredit the election and claim their opponents are fighting dirty, but I don't think it's a big enough deal to be worth doing. Your campaign site being hacked and saying how shit you are does more damage than claiming your campaign site was hacked by someone else does good, imo.

Loads of early voting in the US now... what does it mean? Tends to be a good sign for Dems right? Could it be that all this discussion of voter suppression and mail tricks and so on has backfired in energising loads of people to vote early in the hope of not being suppressed? Hope so.
