this is the only album I have bookmarked for 2020 but granted I haven't listened to much

just from this thread I enjoyed the Linha d'Agua one that john eden posted and the iranian percussion one that thirdform posted more than anything else that has come out this year.

I haven't been in the right mindset to approach the Roisin Murphy or Horse Meat Disco albums yet, disco when you're not in a disco mood can feel really unpleasant I think, and the past few weeks all I've wanted to listen to is grey miserable sounds

I get that. it's escapism, imagining light at the end of the trump/COVID tunnel.

I'll never listen to anything on band camp or any other do it yourself platform on principle. It's obviously rubbish.

Bandcamp is just a distribution platform, tons of music on there is also available elsewhere. the good part for an artist who creates their own BC page is the money goes directly to them as opposed to labels, distributors, retail stores.

I tried that Linha d'Agua one and I was really enjoying it until the drums of familiar post-rock came in, would probably have liked it a lot more without them.

all music this year has been either jarring, accelerated clashing metal or pained expression of soulfulness schmaltz. there is no third choice.

And Bandcamp Fridays lest we forget.

This is mine

I listened to this on a loop in early lockdown but I still like it now.

Other than that I listened to a load of Weatherall stuff and pondered his age, my age now and my age when I first listened to Sabres of Paradise.
enoyin this one

i did think halfway in this is THREATENING to become too lush (or indeed sedate, or soulful), but never does.
