'House Jam' is definitely the standout for me. The Tinchy collab, however, I could have done without. I reckon they've got a great album in them yet - and 'House Jam' is pointing in the right direction - but too much of this record just doesn't stick for me.

Nowt much to add except to say that it's a truly great album. 'London Zoo' has been mentioned a lot as a recent point of reference and I think what both albums is achieve is... just that. That they work as 'albums'. They have a coherence, a sense of narrative and pace that almost all full-length...

I've been likened to Ed Norton a fair bit, though that may just be because of the massive swastika tattoed on my chest.

His laugh is the most horrifically joyless sound I've ever heard.

Catatonia's 'Road Rage' and 'Mulder & Scully' immediately spring to mind. They had an album track called 'My Selfish Gene' too. :rolleyes:

Hang-overs: Shoegaze all the way. Spacemen 3, Ride, Galaxie 500... the general haziness of it all can be strangely soothing. Trying to stay up late: Yeah, minimal usually does the trick. Or maybe some afro-beat. Anything that has a lot of repetition but isn't overly demanding to listen to...

Yeah. The track with Uffie is particularly atrocious. I think there's some great individual tunes on the album but overall it's less than the sum of its parts. Personally, I think the Simian Mobile Disco record is the best of the bunch. They seem to have approached it very much with an 'album'...
