Coolhunter sounds like something that someone would get bullied for saying in high school.
It'd be quite a good name for some sort of industrial gabber noise type act. But with the implication being that they hunt and kill cool people, not that they seek out cool things.

[something about the vampiric nature of capital on innovation and the misappropriation of the term 'creative']

true that. btw, i mean "creatives" as in creative directors at ad agencies and graphic designers, i know a lot of them who love that site as a way to stay on top of trends (aka design porn).

right, but how did his music get noticed by people on youtube? i saw something about him first on dummymag but how did they suddenly see it? is there some special youtube navigation technique we can all use to get on tomorrows big electronic signing FIRST?

dont see the big deal about EC though. all the right ref points, and its perfectly executed, but a bit excitement-less. music by technicians.

I imagine he email/tweeted them to some press when he upped them, or someone did it on his behalf. it's seldom fluke, that the role style press play...

going back to a previous comment I made, EC is a perfect example. So when he made his youtube channel, he sent the music to bloggers/press before he sent the music to DJs.

Is that how it works now? The press/bloggers are the taste makers for what music should get more exposure than a DJ?

I just trust DJs more. Maybe I shouldnt?

do djs look at factmag and dummy and RA for new artists? i always used to think djs hated reading of any sort, never mind actually using magazines for tips on who to play lol. websites are prob better than djs for promotion though arent they? gets you to more people. or maybe its that just as theres no one big dj to hit up, theres no one big site to hit up either, and with email, who cares, cos you can hit up a million people in one go anyway.

off EC for a bit, i wish swamp 81s shows had a different mc. the guy on there is so feeble. hes as bad as toast. shame cos the music is good on there.

evian christ really is so, so boring. it's like an exercise in removing all elements of fun and excitement from the music it's emulating.

and 'evian christ' is a shit name too.

Evian Christ isn't really dancefloor music though is it...as the Tri Angle signing would suggest. dunno what manner of DJ would really have pushed him?

oh yeah FACT reminded me that Evian Christ had a track on a mix for URB mag by BNJMN well before the Youtube vids went up.

DJ success!
