Dirtybirdizm

Posted that Matthew Craig & Lorenzo I Love You tune on my Facebook with a comment about it sounding like this new wave of Jackin' tracks Nato picked up on with Billy Kenny's release. Matthew Craig responded to the post saying it's House & Bass (as oppose Jackin').

Wise's Dirtybirdizm statement gives the impression to me that he thinks it sounds like commercialism but I may have misinterpreted. In the House & Bass thread Slackk made the comment about it being the commercial wing of Jackin' / underground house but I'm not so sure. There's definitely no sense of commercialism in the way any big tune is ripped to make one of these new half-steppy sounding Jackin' tracks.

it's certainly not commercial in a chart bothering way, i guess what i meant, and im sure ive commented on this before is that there is a definite move away from Jackin as was in the direction of House & Bass following Cause & Affects affiliation with Dirtybird, Food music, etc.
im pretty sure most former jackin producers/djs see this as a way to broader fame (outside of Midlands/North).
Jackin as a genre name has a lot of associations that maybe they no longer want to be burdened with, where as house & bass is broad to the point of meaninglessness.
its a bit like the shift from jungle to drum & bass innit, lets get more a bit more mature a bit less rudeboy.
that said i like a lot of the Food/Dirtybird tunes, it would just be a shame to lose that unique Jackin cheekiness

one other thought, what would a solo Lorenzo tune sound like?
can he only work with someone else as a foil?
don't think there are any just Chris Lorenzo tunes are there?

also now he's signed/getting more exposure and prob more dj gigs there seem to be a lot less tunes coming out, given his omnipresence, this could have a big impact on the scene, or maybe it just makes space for other producers to get a bit more attention...

the only 2 Lorenzo solo tunes I know of are 'primevil' and 'Incredible'. Love em both.

Surely a logical progression for him would be to start his own label?

Wise bossin' up on the posts at the moment. Having listened to those dirtybird tunes I can hear the similarity now - I'm hoping the tunes sound raw and fun without going too civilised as 'House and Bass'.

Jamie Duggan's just put some tunes up, not sure if they're new or not, at least one of them isn't.

this tune is great though:
