Know everyone's been gassing about the Area 8 release for a little bit now, and I Am is the big tune on the release, but was just listening to this now: http://www.beatport.com/track/that-rhythm-original-mix/4961530
and on the topic of UK/nuum/is it just tech house/etc debate, the bassline massively reminds me of Pulse X of all things. First time I've clearly heard the grime, as opposed to just a vaugely UK thing, in deeptech.

not being funny mcs ruin everything. how many genres have they contributed to being shut down. garage and funky definitely. arguably the more important technical ability in grime became the less original the beats became; anyone remember kanye west style chipmunk sounds, tempo specialists? anyway guys dnt need to mc now cause they can rap so its not suttin i wud expect to hear anytime soon or even want to. dont wanna take the focus of dancing, producing to stage show antics.

that area 8 ep is heat

What do people mean when they say this? like in what actually tangible way do MCs ruin/shut down scenes? Is it that they attract a negative/violent crowd? Do they literally invite violent friends to attend their raves? Isn't scene violence more to do with inadequate security rather than anything else? Is it just that people don't like the sound of MCs over dance music? In which case I just have to disagree, I love all the MC garage, I love a lot of the MC funky too. Undoubtably a bad MC can ruin a set, of course. But I don't see why MCing in the abstract has got such a bad rep...

That said I will admit to not 'being there' for either garage or funky so I'm willing to be enlightened!

Yup, both EPs on +recordings are massive, very excited to see what the future holds for the label!

nah nuttin to do with any kind of violence, they take away from the vibes in the club (i.e. ppl standing rather than dancing, reloads and of course shit mcing) and make more ppl wanna spit than produce/dj leading to a watering down in the instrumentals, this being instrumental music that wudnt be a good look.

IMO

yeah plus recordings is looking f'd tbf, its great to hear shit on radio, mixes and not know what it is/if its out/if its new/if its old then u hear its getting a release. recess, resonance, sotu (sound of the underground pioneers label) and mokujin are some other labels putting this stuff out. the beatport raid is going to be emotional but for now im ripping everything off continuums channel, props agen

Dunno, I'm a massive fan of wheelups and if this scene doesn't have them then it's massively to its own loss. Re: MCs, I don't mean full on mc tacks, although stuff like aggz or mr Limeys mcing in jackin, way more like garage than grime, could work really well with this stuff. I just mean having a host always adds to the vibe if they know what they're doing. Good hosts + raves + drugs is a winning, timeless combo obviously.

Yeah, it's nice that this stuff all gets releases! UK bass was so fucking boring with its more-exclusive-than-thou wait 8 months for a joy fuckinh Orbison release flex.

Yo, what tracks you want? Got 320/ and some wavs, I can shoot you a zip

dnt get me rong im a rap fan first, refused to get into grime until i heard all in ones flows (was too basic for me at first) and much as i think the movement and ghetto finished grime he was my favourite mc round them 9 minute risky roadz days. i dnt mind a host like frost, spidey g, even tippa and his overbearing waffling self isn't too too bad but guys spitting over this proper (which i see aint what u meant) wud not bode well even if it is how i got most of my friends into it haha

i dnt know many names just "how they go"

one track in particular i been after is that one that i think samples LFO or some old jungle/hardcore track in the synths?

goes "thats what i say to you" pretty sure its audiorehab

love them weird strung out synths

a little hosting is a good thing. its when mcs start getting overhyped and calling for wheels that everything starts to get shit. definitely does contribute to changing the vibe from dancing to standing as well. the drops shouts and pull ups start to become the focus. if i was running a night i'd have a 3 wheel per hour limit in place or u get booted off the decks lol

big fan of area 8 that rhythm. that off beat white noise filtering is so good

i think its majesty not too sure though

looking at videos on insta/vine audiowhore was a massive success again. majesty is really onto something with his parties the younger lot are all over it every month. put a new track on soundcloud the night before as well "endless worlds". that, white wedding and all his other productions should really see releases on audiowhore dunno who he is waiting around for to sign em up.

ima try shazam it later on cheers benny
