All the shops closed bug they had handwritten signs on them saying they're open. Owners unable to keep up.

It's a weird atmosphere when you see people out. They speak even less than usual, cross the road when they see others more often.

Yeah I do that myself loads, cross over if someone is on same side of pavement as me. Some people seem to think it's rude? Also a lot of men fishing on the canal. And a lot more oddballs than normal on there.
