One of his crowning achievements imo is the Astro Unicorn Radio show which is him playing songs he likes, doing little features like synthesiser of the week and occasionally interviewing other like minded artists. His commentaries in between tunes is always hilarious

funnily enough was just listening yesterday to his forthcoming thing where he was given access to a museum full of synths in Switzerland - and enjoying it, both as a listen and a concept

from the press release:

"'Unconditional Contours' captures Legowelt’s stint at the Swiss Museum for Electronic Music Instruments (SMEM), after he was invited to be the first artist in residence at the institution’s 'Playroom' project. Legowelt visited SMEM in Fribourg, Switzerland, in early 2019 to explore the collection and record music. Possessing an extensive collection of synthesizers himself, he used hand-picked synthesizers from the museum’s archive: the rare Farfisa Synthorchestra, the EVS-1 Evolution, the 'shittiest rompler ever made', amongst many others."

it's retrofuturism yeah but on these terms enjoyable

also, quite a lot of these synths were outmoded really quick, or never taken up on a mass level, so arguably there's all kind of potentials in them that never got tapped cos they didn't have the lifetime of say the harpischord or the saxophone

Laurie Spiegel did a whole album on this concept Obsolete Systems

and you have people today like Benge doing the same approach, a whole album dedicated to a particular antiquated synth

actually that's wrong about the Spiegel, it's a collection of pieces done on obsolete synths, but not done retroactively as it were - they were pieces done at the time when the synths - Buchla 100, Electrcomp 100), tape, digital synthesis, Echoplex, Bell Labs' GROOVE Hybrid system, etc - were still current.

He is an Amiga head. Therefore approved. Also associated with Bunker records which the woke twitter mafia are desperately trying to get cancelled. So even more points to him. Also seem like a likeable fellow.

A Renaissance man, and a true freak.

Legowelt And Willie Burns Launch Online TV Show
As regular readers of Data Transmission are aware we’re big fans of prolific producer and hardware enthusiast Legowelt. The Dutchman has been relentlessly knocking out the finest analogue dance music for almost two decades, under a host of different aliases but today’s news isn’t strictly regarding his prowess in the studio. Teaming up with Brooklynite Willie Burns the twosome have launched a new online TV show entitled Relics Of The Past in which they both star and soundtrack.

The series inaugural episode sees the pairing open by skateboarding, lifting weights, smoking weed and playing around with synthesisers. So an average day in the life of these producers then right? Wrong. Things then take a bizarre turn when they then happen across an ancient relic in a cupboard and turn to their gardener DJ Overdose to help them ward off evil spirits. As you do.

links with YT captions...

Part 1
The first part in a new series about two bumbling bafoons in their search for the end of the day. In this first pilot episode the freaks discover something in their cupboard they shouldn't have....fortunately their gardener knows more than meets the eye. Special guest star Jeroen Warmenhoven as Professor Gardner

Part 2
In the second episode, we find the boys adapting to space much quicker then expected. Meanwhile Professor Gardner finds himself in an "institutional" situation…

Part 3
After their escape plan foils, Professor Gardner immerses himself in a new hobby; programming artificial intelligence. The boys are back on the streets and up to no good….

Part 4
In this new adventure entitled,“Skull Dude”, the boys get jobs as private detectives. Their mysterious new patron (Orgue Electronique) unintentionally sends them to the Faroer Islands. An artistically mesmerising awe of cult stupidity is guaranteed!

I challenge anyone to watch an entire episode of their TV show, never mind all four parts. totally ridiculous, and with pacing that makes a student art film look like Mission Impossible.

I managed skipping through a few minutes of the first episode.
