We moved beyond it in flux with the momentum of capitalism, the addiction to the new and the tech. Why does new music like Mark Fell cause people to 'quite like' it (destined to be forgotten within 5-10 years max) whereas the nuum and jungle still have old farts on a forum called dissensus raving on about it? It's not just nostalgia. It's the spirit of the music.
Well, it's funny you say that, I can never let go of my xenakis records which are far more weirded out than Mark Fell could ever be. Actually I really like Fell but the minimalism of his approach is what gives it a short shelflife. Whereas historical abstract electronic music was based on very complex composition. Fell's music almost swerves that. It's complex numerically, but not compositionally. It's the difference between a darbuka solo and writing a multi maqam semai for a saz instrument.
