Eilish has galvanised a constituency of girls with green hair and humungous t-shirts.
i heard the reason why she used to wear those giant shirts is cause she didn't want to be sexualised which it seems like she's abandoned that now

Yeah, that was the root of her appeal. Way more than the music. It was the t-shirts.

Suspended hasn't sold her to himself. Gus doesn't like music. He's surveying the contemporary landscape.
i'm just saying i notice he's into alot of these kind of pop or "art pop" women who i only know about cause certain people i know are into them

all dem Mitski, carly rae jepsen, Weyes Blood, Rina samayawa(i know i've spelt her last name wrong) Charli XCX and Halsey i wouldn't call myself a fan of any of them but i'm aware of them.

they just "exist" in the world to me

He's not 'into them.' He can't stand music but he's very into the landscape of consumer capitalism and he's fascinated by marketing. If you keep that mind you'll understand his threads better.

But when you read these threads you should be thinking more in terms of how the product is situated culturally and in the sales market. The demographic it's laser focussed on. How the product is packaged and presented. The music is part of that of course, but music leaves him completely cold so it's not a question of enjoyment

He's haunted by the question of 'why' people listen to music. He thinks there must be some other force or forces behind the music, some capitalist gimmick, or some quirk of human socialisation

alright i feel you, for me this aspect of music while i think it is important to at least have an eye on it so you remember what sort of industry you're dealing with this stuff aswell as all the talk about licensing, copyright and legal wrangling is really boring to me and it's not why i got into talking about music in the first place.

But i'll say this on the matter alot of people who consider themselves fans of things often get the two aspects confused or worse now they know they're being manipulated but do it anyway

can you be an older man and like BE or OR without looking a bit dodgy?
i don't think so because the element or thought of it being down to attraction is always going to be there.
Especially when these women go through their rebellious "I'm a adult" now part of their career the whole thing is built around the idea of somebodies dad looking at them and thinking "pwoh wouldn't i mind a good shag with that" and if that's the reaction they get its worked.

if anybody had any ideas i'd be interested to know how i think the issue speaks to this growing problem that things for kids can't be just for them anymore cause there's adults who want claim ownership of the same thing they like and get pissy when its not directed towards them.

The term "Disney Adult" popped up relatively recently.
I dunno if this is happening in the UK but in the US the last decade there's been a huge move towards "adult snacks." So, you take beloved childhood treats (Oreos, Cheetos, Cheese-Its, gummies, etc) and then you make them organic with pea protein powder and fruit juice and call them "White cheddar cheese puffs" and bang, you've got a best-seller

Ocean Eyes is really good, not very familiar with the rest of her ouevre
Yeah so Ocean Eyes is her very very early career, and pretty uninteresting compared to what comes later. Luckily I have furnished you with several examples. All you have to do is hit play!

SMH incredible this bum "Corpsey" has so much status around here. I assumed someone whose nickname was "Jah Klaw" would go harder.
