I've always wanted to do a Wiley "Eskibeats" compilation... ice cream man, dragons stout, eskimo etc.. very alien yet accessible music. It's one of the planned releases for next year. I've asked mms to deal with it. I'm hoping that the terror comp. will act as an incentive for wiley to accept our imminent offer of a release, but he is a very hard fellow to get an answer from sometimes. I dunno if he will be interested given that he receives big advances from majors nowadays... and might see the old beats as something he doesn't want to promote... we will see. We have quite a few inroads to him... we did manage to release "Local Lad" last year.

Speak to DJ Cheeky at Rhythm Division he has access to all of Wiley's beats. It will be much easier than dealing with Wiley.

@ Soul Pill, have you ever thought of doing a Black Op's compilation??

Whilst on the subject, what does everyone think of Sublow??

I think there's a sublow thread on here somewhere. I think it's ace. Awful vocals though.

The 8bar/sublow stuff is in serious need of documentation I think.

Quick list of some of the most special ones

Dread D - Invasion/Invasion VIP/Invade 2
Charmzy - How We Get Down An R/ R-Ha
Jon E Cash - War/ Do It/ Spanish Fly/ Hoods Up/ International

Agree, vocals are abysmal, these above tracks are still heavy.

Next def has to be Wiley really.

Elijah, Cheeky did all of the Tunnel Visions with Wiley didn't he? I'm sure that is what he said. He was on about putting a load of Wiley's instrumentals on Rhythm Division as mp3s to download recently.

@ soul_pill, just had that confirmed. It will still take ages but will be a lot easier than sorting it out with Wiley. He has got loads of unreleased stuff as well.

Darned cockwombles.
I got this somewhere - will check.

Deuce was a great magazine - still listen to that Jammer/Lewi White CD they gave out free...

yeah I think so - will try tonight

Cheers John and Baboon!

Yeah there are nuff good Deuce ones - the Geneeus one, Jammers classic NASTY one, an Oris Jay one too I think?

I think a retrospective of Wiley would be great (obviously, and i would buy even though i have got quite a few of big ones laready) but was kinda thinking that everyone knows Wiley is that man, whereas less people know the brilliance of early JMTW. I know Grime heads do of course but I thought there might be more of an 'introducing a new audience' aspect which might not be quite as big with Wiley? I think Terra is the same - known to grime heads but what % of all Plant My fans know him well? Pretty miniature right? Which is what makes it such a wicked project.

Yeah I have mp3s of those but no vinyl, got about 6 or 7 JMTW though.

Can't believe there is a project called Chinkrasta! Sick, reminds me of that dancehall guy called Chiney something which I always assumed was a self-mocking pejorative thing?

:D yeah it is really good. I only managed to find a copy last month, been after it for a while.

The a-side is Chinkrasta and the flip is called Kung Fu which is on this mix cd:

The vinyl isn't on Discogs for some reason or on youtube but its sino-grime similar to the Mystic EP.

^^ That vid is hilarious. 'The cake's on a hype ting'. :D
Just want to add to all the thanks/praise/anticipation for the TD compilation and ep, will def be picking them up. A Wiley/eski comp would be more than welcome, as would a sublow one. Maybe a sinogrime one, if there's enough available tracks? So many really interesting things going on in early grime production-wise.
