GRIME- breaking news, gossip, slander, lies etc

mistersloane

heavy heavy monster sound
he sounds good but the flow is a lot more standard hip hop double time to my ears than how he used to. i dont really feel dizzees 'street' bars anymore though. i prefer him doing stuff like road rage.

Oh come on. Really. He's using loads of internal rhyming - and off beat too. It's a wicked rhyme. Have you read 'How to Rap'? You''re so reactionary sometimes.

im not sure i agree. it lacks th suppleness he used to have. its a bit rigid. d double kills him on that. its good but its not old dizzee levls.

i didnt say it was bad, just that it sounds more like double time hip hop flows, rather than 'old dizzee flows', which is what petergunn was saying. internal rhymes is not something grime mcs do very much in my experience. internal rhymes is what guys like nas are famous for. obv im not saying grime mcs shouldnt do that, just that thats not what dizzee used to do in his prime (far as i can remember). honestly, and im not being reactionary, but dizzee imo doesnt sound that 'committed' to harder tracks like this anymore. even a track like NGs' violence, which i loved, he was obv the weakest link, and its the same here really - the songs appeal is all down to DEE. i like dizzees lighter material these days.

dizzee did have internal rhymes in his prime as it goes, at leat in some of his more virtuosic verses. good writing doesnt guaruntee good listening tho.

yes i think thats what it is. you can tell on a track like this hes really trying to develop and be a bit more conventionally complex in terms of the flow so i can appreciate it in that sense but it doesnt really have the excitement of his old verses. but youre right actually, something like stand up tall def has internal rhymes going on. that is prob his all time best technical 'performance' as a rapper ever actually (and its hype too). apart from maybe respect me on showtime.

im drawing a blank for that one

frisco on trim's wot (im sure its that one) from soulfood 1 is another virtuoso-like bit of grime MC-ing that comes to mind.

this is cleverer when it comes to interesting rhyming patterns than that bluku verse and just all round better:

caught a bit of roll deep on rinse last night. only the last 15 mins or so but flowdan was pretty funny with his rick ross impersonation. 'IPAD... YEAH IM WATCHING PORN'.

actually that roll deep set on sunday was seriously dissapointing selection wise - it was all the obvious hits from recent months - woo etc - and old classics all smashed into one which left me confused.

new trim ep sounds good if a bit after the fact. and trim sounds kinda weary now. i still wanna hear the tempa t album tho. if nothing else comes out in grime, cool. but that one should be released. prob pointless posting about it on this forum but id like to know what happened to it.

is it that good? ill try and find it.

new wiley album is allllllllriiiiiiight i suppose. just woke up is the best thing on there. the rest is decent, but just typical wiley. its just another wiley album imo. more consistent than most of his others overall (and more like roots manuva actually, much more whimsical in general), but it doesnt have the highs of something like playtime is over. still need to hear his whoo kid mixtape (tho imagine itll prob be weird hearing woo kid in between wiley).
