I had an email from Boomkat today saying that Blood and Fire had now gone under, can't find anything about it on the BAF page though.

That's a bit baffling, I thought they were out of the woods...

boomkat are still selling the mp3s tho...

The email I got was about a 'BAF closing down sale' or something. Should I paste it here, or is that some kind of diabloical liberty?

Below is the text, they've got that Yabby You double CD for 8.99, anyone who doesn't have it already should get it, even if they have no ears, it's that big a bargain:

Hello...
As some of you may already know, our neighbours and good friends at the Blood & Fire label have sadly closed for business. Below you'll find the VERY LAST available copies from their amazing archive. We have a dozen or so copies of each of these titles and that's it - when they're gone, they're well and truly gone. This is your very last chance to pick up some true BASS classics from one of the most respected and inspired dub labels of the last decade, we strongly urge you to do so while you can...

It is a pisser, because B&F were supposed to be THE model of how record labels could continue to function in the mp3 era - specialist, nice packaging, sleevenotes, good mastering, nice community, actually paid the artists.

This quote today from the guy slicing up EMI - "The consumer has determined that there is not necessarily a need to pay for digital downloads."

Is that consumer power? Could this principle be applied elsewhere? ;)
