I like Bassline House, and I play a lot of it with new harder odd garage sounds.

Although I prefer new skool stuff and the hard 4x4 at the beginning of the century: Dexplict, Paleface,. Delinquent..

For new stuff, Birmingham is running it, Emvee, Bassboy, Screama.

Some of this shit is REALLY samey, worse than Dubstep or DNB at times, but there are people pushing the weirdness forward, Burgaboy specifically.

I've never thought it had anything to do with Happy Hardcore, I may be an old(young) cynic, but I can imagine that being the kinda thing a london centric Garage head would assume as it's above Watford. :p;) I always thought it came more from the raved/jungled up end of Speed Garage, RIP Groove on plus 8 etc..

Sometimes I wish people would shut the hell up about the hardcore continuum, and realize that a lot of these styles come right out of isolation from popular strains of underground dance music. And that is by no means a diss of the OP or anyone in the thread, just a thought.

Plus, the anti-bassline arguments seem to have a very patronising, London-centric edge to them.

Not necessarily on this thread, but man this is so true of many times I've heard people dismissing the entire genre.

And to say it's a re-run of garage is just such utter nonesense, some of this stuff sounds completely weird and unique from anything before it, the level of chopping and changing and atonality in the basslines, and also the coldness of the sounds, it doesn't want to be funky or soulful or "black" sounding, it's stark and cold and hard, like the north.

There is a lot of shit stuff but that is true of any genre. The quantity being produced, if you know where to find it, is fairly high which must mean it's popular to produce / there's a demand for it.

Recorded some DJ Pantha off Ustream earlier. He played some ridiculous dubs for about half an hour and then logged out. I managed to record about 8 minutes. Will try and get some more if he does it again but he has said on Facebook that Vol.31 is on its way.

Wifey Deja Show - Burgaboy bits at the end

We played quite a few burga bits towards the end of the show. He tells me he's not making bassline anymore, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't a bluff.

If it's the truth it's a bit of a tragedy - him, Pantha and TRC are the most interesting from that scene to me right now.

Weirdly I didn't even clock the censoring until you pointed it out! Do you think they are going for daytime radio play with it?

must be something like that, would've though "pum pum" would be able to slip through the net, I guess not tho clearly! possibly becuase of the context ha

we had J69 down from Sheffield a few weeks back for our regular innacity fm slot, and he was sick. played loads of unreleased bits from younger producers up there.

check out the freddo bits as well as his own stuff. he said it's all more 'UKB' which is what they're using to refer to that new skippy kind of sound aparently, as opposed to the older straight 4x4 stuff. show archive's here ;)
