Westlife critical of lack of originality in pop music scene

They have done over 30 cover versions

Their breakup was a lucky escape

Westlife singer Kian Egan has revealed that he would be interested in collaborating with some UK grime artists.

The star said that the crossover of genres would be a good chance to gain exposure to different audiences.

"I like the idea of doing something with someone urban.

"Like if you take that Tinie [Tempah] song 'Written In The Stars', that could be very much a Westlife chorus, with him doing the rap. It would bring both of us to a different audience."

“where day slips silently into night as the grass turns gently in the wind just before the edge of the forest; where phantoms roam free and feral beasts stalk… the untamed serenity of these reaches is where one would expect to find this record”

lol

great imagery. i'm imagining stumbling across this record in the woods behind the school playing fields as it gathers mould with all the other discarded junk - porno mags and empty tins of solvents etc.

This one's quite special...

PoP Campaign are a duo of music makers originally from Glasgow, Scotland now exiled in Berlin, Germany.

Their POPAGANDA: Bright, right and ready for the fight against the pretentious self-importance that plagues the industry today.

PoP Campaign have existed for just over two years and in that time they have played across Europe bringing their show to everywhere from the North of Scotland to Stockholm as well as constantly playing in the clubs of Berlin.

Thus far they have released just one single, "Herzlich Willkommen/Schadenfreude" on CARP Recordings in October 2010. It featured a remix by Glasgow-clubbing institution Cotton Cake and was hailed by Steve Lamacq on his BBC 6 Music show. This was followed by securing a track on the "Electro Magnetic 2" compilation released by Lo Recordings/Universal Records.

The press has been flowing in since then and the June 2011 issue of Mixmag published a feature on their legendary Berlin parties which happen in places such as abandoned ex-Breweries and in the middle of public parks. This was followed by an appearance in the "Keep An Eye On" section of the same magazine in November.

In their opinion, dance music has lost its soul. It is cold, calculated and completely driven by outside forces with no interest in music. They want to help restore the faith.

"Kraut Popping" is their debut album and is released on Tuesday February 14th by CARP Recordings. It blends their love of Krautrock and 80s British Synthpop into a 9 track attack of long swirling epics and short pop songs.

"Willy Joy 'Whispering Woods EP'"

"Willy Joy returns to Trouble & Bass with his biggest release yet..."

Cant wait until someone tells Willy Joy and his big release what that means on this side of the pond.

This is actually hall of fame material but I couldn't find that thread

Press release on legowelt's new album

Ok people here it is the new Legowelt album! Its got a hella lot deep tape saturated forest-techno tracks on it and when I say Techno i dont mean that boooooooooooring contemporary shit they call techno nowadays with overrated tallentless pretentious douchebag cunt DJs playing a few halfassed dumb mongo beats and being all arty fartsy about it. F*ck that, I am talking about: Raw as fuck autistic Star Trek 1987- Misty Forests- X-FILES,- DETROIT unicorn futurism made on cheap ass digital & analog crap synthesizers recorded in a ragtag bedroom studio on a TEAC VHX cassettedeck in DOLBY C with an unintelligible yet soulfull vivacity.

A quick heads up - new artist Peter Shakane's single "White Rifle" is out
today!

Here is what the press are saying!! (some of them are a little cutting -
but Shakane has taken on the comments as constructive criticism).

Any Decent Music - Likened to artists such as Diplo, MIA, Azealia Banks -
but with a dirty big beat influence a la The Prodigy. This new genre has
been described as Electro Booty - Pioneered by none other than Shakane. A
smutty relief from all the post slow/dub-step/gip-step that has been
polluting for the last few years. Welcome Peter Shakane.

Vice magazine - "Yeah, I suppose its ok... mild sensationalist bullshit -
we should like it more."

NME Unsigned - "5/10 sounds from the nineties with no real progression. A
catchy hook, great video. Dirty, pointless fun"

The Sun - "Music for children with ADHD by a child with ADHD. Maybe even HD
ADHD."

UPDATE: my advanced bellend alarms have gone off, triggered by this second email.

Hello - a little update...

Just so you know - Peter Shakane is in NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH XL RECORDINGS... He thinks they are a good label and wishes they would sign him but that is as far as it goes. Peter passes on his apologies to anyone who got the wrong end of the stick - please don't publish anything that says he is on XL Recordings or he will have to go back to prison. We were going to use the name XL Records, but we can't. So we have made the domain redundant.

Also, the reviews were fake - but reasonably funny? Probably best not to publish those either - unless you are a lawyer that will represent me for free?

The music however is original - and now released independently. Please feel free to band it about...

In case you missed it here is the video...

Probably best to watch it today as I imagine it will get taken down soon enough

Oops!

Impressive "Loudness" levels. Would go off in a rave somewhere north of Coventry at 6 in the morning.

Did Trevor master it?

This is me - never used!

I got a collaborator who worked in marketing once to do one about me - I think it's pretty awesome, especially the bathos-laden ending.

This up and coming Producer/Songwriter started out as a classical pianist, but by the age of 14 was already immersing himself in the, big room sounds of (EXAMPLES). Not content with simply enjoying these beats, this ambitious teenager, was soon mastering his own rave tunes on his trusted Amiga 500

Realising the significance ring tones would ultimately play in the industry StarGuider was soon programming what he describes as ' Those cheesy MIDI jingles' which ultimately helped paved the way for the MP3 phone

Most recently he's engineered live sessions at XXXXXXXXXX, recording the likes of XXXXXXX, XXXXX, XXXXX and on (DATE) StarGuider and team where awarded a 'Podcast Of The Week' award by Time Out

Producers like Phil Spector strike the chord of Drama and Eccentricity which resonates in StarGuider's work.

His love of R Kelly, Pharrell, Missy Elliott, Cassie, Ciara and the massive respect he has for Kanye West means he's also been pumping some seriously impressive R'n'B muscle

His beats are described as being both 'Infectiously Commercial' and 'Deeply Honest' transcending the mundane and disposability of average pop.

StarGuider is one producer who certainly knows how to flex his RnB muscles in the interest of truth

He is a Producer and Songwriter who really wants to speak and connect with his fans

With his eclectic tastes StarGuider's (MUSIC PLAYER) is crammed with every genera from Classical, Jazz, to Grunge,Techno, Jungle and Hip Hop. Today he's living and breathing Dubstep and Prince, Aphex Twin and Kelley Polar can regularly be heard blearing through his speakers

As StarGuider himself admits. He's a slave to the beat - 'I listen to so much music I kind of lose track - but there you go '

He just asked for some basic info about me - I do think it's a bit of a work of genius to be honest - I wish I could write in this sort of style
