i wouldnt say its been coopted cos of the masks but feels like it has a structural role... like how terrorism works in the film Brazil. as a justification of power and some of the measure power enacts
 
We’re at an impasse, a blockage around identity. Self expression and identity and single point perspectives will get boring. That’s my prediction. We see a restlessness in our own accelerating chameleon nature and tastes.

I think a lot of artistic innovation will come through dissolving the boundaries of identity between art and artist and audience, machine and human, self other, individual and group.

but i don't think this can happen in a programmatic and self-consciously experimental way. not as an intellectual experiment.

I think at the moment what's happening is the entire being becomes part of the art or brand, see: Trump, Kanye.

there have to have been a few art gallery exhibitions by now about how memes are the new avant garde. i buy it though. a lot of the stuff i like about electracoustic music applies to memes as well. even the sonic adventurousness.

btw, obviously i'm not talking about fucking lolcats. more stuff like liminal spaces.
