Needing to outfit his new squad, team founder Curly Lambeau solicited funds from his employer, the Indian Packing Company. He was given $500 for uniforms and equipment in return for the team being named for its sponsor. An early newspaper article referred to the fledglings as "the Indians", but by the time they played their first game "Packers" had taken hold.

Indian Packing was purchased in 1920 by the Acme Packing Company. Acme continued to support the team, which played its first NFL season with "ACME PACKERS" emblazoned on its jerseys.

Green Bay’s great quarterback early on was named Bart Starr. Sounds like a Hollywood name: the clean cut all-AmerIcan athlete film character, Bart Starr!

Fanny & Alexander last night, first time, long but lovely.

Making eggnog, baked apples, coffee now. Over to the neighbors only house for miles for brunch in a couple hours. Then maybe a long walk on the lake.

Will play a small felt game handmade in Berkeley in the 60s, a bit like Go with black and white stone markers.
Do you ever get sick of going for walks?

I ended up starting Die Hard at around 4am and feel like death today.
I was actually gonna watch that cos my wife put on something called, I think, love hard, which is supposedly a mix of die hard and love actually, buts she's never seen or heard of die hard.

No! Should I? I don't do them everyday. Maybe 2-3x a week.

The scenery always changes, from spring to summer to fall and winter. And every year the season is different. The lake is totally different this year frozen over. You get marbling that is like nothing you've ever seen, it's there for a day due to weird wind and temperature conditions and then it's gone snowed over.

Or we had a day this year where after heavy snow the temps went up to 60F suddenly. It was so warm all the snow began evaporating. Fog so thick no one could drive. It was around all day coming off the ground, a cloud in the forest, and by midnight heavy winds had swept it all away, the wind and lightning so strong it took down several enormous old trees on our land. The landlord's daughter said they'd never had a day of weather like it in 35 years. You're there to witness it or you're not and it never comes back exactly the same.

I do sometimes yeah, but what you said does remind me what my mate said about how the countryside is way more dynamic than the city, always changing.

I do at least 2 walks per day now cos of dog, gets a bit repetitive

America is a really physically ravishing country and it's not that these English idiots can't accept the fact, they don't even know it.
