One thing about suspended's writing style which I also see in my own, is this staccato delivery of discourse that I vaguely associate with Nick Land. @suspended do you know where this comes from?

For my part, I do it because I think it more naturally molds to the flow of internal articulation of thoughts, piecemeal, fragmentary and strung together without syntactic icing/gloss.

It fits together nicely, I feel, with a frequent usage of "etc." as a generic vector-continuer of lines of thought, an ellipsis of sorts.

Which I think is a nice schizoanalytic device, a means of conveying how this and that line of thought can be continued, this or that enumerative list extended, without actually derailing from a main metathread that connects these various lines of thought.

Gus is a more conscientious writer than you. there's usually an idea there, even if the idea is wrong. with you there's often not an idea, its just verbal froth

i can see the formatting when i quote it strangely. i dont think i would slap down words like

lungs

and

salt

particularly after a pregnant pause in that way. it's a bit unnatural, a bit theatrical.
that's just how people from the american surburbs do poetry when we first start. our only encounter with poetry is haikus printed on restaurant menus, and that combined with the spaced-out nature of our environment means that we initially (and without necessarily realizing it) tend to aim for a sagelike, ponderously sparse and slow tone. whereas since you grew up in a major city and a sound-environment with rap instead of weezer, your style feels more dense, packed together, tension filled. so since reason is clever we can tell what he's imitating but a minute of writing wasn't enough to shake out all traces of the self. this is all true btw.

I take SPACE to be the central fact to man born in America, from Folsom cave to now. I spell it large because it comes large here. Large, and without mercy.

i feel like America is becoming much more multicultural is that right? it used to be people always said it was rigidly serregated but now it seems more of a melting pot

I don't understand basketball at all but these - is it? - pick up games where you get random cunts go and take each other on, I like this culture. Also these videos where it's one on one, you don't really have that in football where you can just take each other on like that and see who is best. I mean, I like the battles you get in football or, I guess, in any other team sport really, where you fight your opposite number, but basketball seems to have this one on one game thing. Although still, if one of you is normally a defender and one an attacker how does it work?

i think in these park situations you dont have specialised positions so much

Yeah I guess but my point is if you were a world class specialised defender then you couldn't show it off, which would be a shame.

I mean you could have a one on one Sterling v Maguire (or let's fantasise, Messi v Maldini) game but it wouldn't really tell you anything about who was best... while I get the impression that the one on one basketball games at least pretend they are answering an equivalent question.

Well yeah played a lot of five a side pub league type stuff... some of it pretty rough... certainly compared to Portugal, here they try and give you a free kick every time they tackle you.

I remember when I used to play in a league in Islington and these local kids joined the league, younger than all the regulars, very talented but dirty cunts, it was between us and them for the league and last day we won our game but they were playing after us, needed to win like ten nil to take the league... which wasn't impossible cos they were averaging five or six against most of the other teams who were randoms from Australia etc At half time it became obvious they weren't gonna get the margin they needed and these mates they had brought with them ran on the pitch and started stabbing their opposition... so we won the league from the pub and they got banned for next season. A few of the Aussies ended up in hospital but they were fine and they weren't much cop anyway.
