The stutter, the slapback echo, the wild teenage energy, the pink Cadillac - one of the best rock and roll records ever made imo. And no drummer required!

Peter Guralnick's biographies are amazing too, though the 2nd volume Careless Love is just devastatingly sad. There's a lot that's undeniably comical about the later fat period, but I've always found it quite hard to laugh about it after reading that.

yeah, it's easy to poke fun at the later Elvis - Colonel Tom made him a lot of money but at the expense of credibility, it's easy to forget how influential the Sam Philips's era Elvis was
