I didn't think it was as good as the Cloud 9 EP. Agreed the beats are better than the songs themselves; these producers need to start vetoing the choruses when they are as bad as they are on that 'No Cape' tune for instance. That one just makes me feel embarassed for them. Better to just leave a chorus out altogether really.

a lot of grime choruses are really affected/contrived. theyre just there cos the mcs think they need a big shouty hook so they stick one in for the sake of it.

said some stuff about it in the NGs thread - its decent, but its got some strangely crap hooks that almost (ive gotten used to them now) ruin a few songs... and why all the effects on their vocals? its a well put together 11 tracker (nothing crap on this - i even like mind is a gun and the single), but its a bit 'dirtee stank showcase' at times, with chrome on 2 songs and dizzee on 2 (peppers good tho). i wanted it to be strictly gens, esp with only 11 songs. dats normal, supadupe, and bell dem are all brilliant tho. peppers pretty great too - properly hype, even if its more techno hype than grime hype. and dee's verse on there is fantastic. sounds like an old verse of his.

sorry for breaking into this thread like this..
i've been lurking here for times and chanced on this (and subsequent parts) linked way back:

i want more of this stuff. i mean this early super raw tracky stuff with a huge crew throwing the mic around live.
questions are:
- is this roll deep set available on dvd?
- are there any other similar vids (battles/pirate sets) available from this era of grime with this sort of hairaising excitement level and quality?
dvds please...
or i guess i'll go through rinse archives for good audio
