i'm trying so hard but i just can't seem to get 100% invested into a scene that has no vinyl releases.

is there anything at all to pick up on wax? i got excited for a bit when cause & affect had a tune on dirtybird but then i realised they're all digital now too.

the djs all play cds there's no backwards looking fetishism dubplate culture thing going on it's a modern scene, can't see why anyone would bother to press up a record

Went to Cable on Friday and was a bit disappointed by it. Lorenzo played some bangers but I dunno it seemed he was baiting things up a bit for fear of the London crowd not getting too into it. I don't really like that club so that didn't help much. It was very heaven, anyway, compared to Corsica which we went to afterwards - witnessing a drunken man being kicked in the stomach lying on the floor by some highly professional bouncers before being bored senseless by Loefah's selection along with an army of 18 year olds who to my jaded fogeyish eyes didn't seem to be enjoying things that much themselves.

20 odd years of uk rave history in this subline. Pure bubblin' junglist vibes.

Sounds like a shitty night. Head up to Birmingham mate, it's not that far away and isn't gonna be full of cynical Londoners.

Yeah, I definitely would like to see how it goes off in Brum. London clubs, of a particular type anyway, always seem a bit dry to me. Cable felt a bit like a mini-Fabric to me.

I'm sure there are brilliant clubs in London and I'd appreciate being pointed in their direction sometime.

100% with you on everything there corpsey mate - was a real disappointment!

tom shorterz was all good but kane cause & effect was playing what sounded like breaks and electro with a couple of his own bits...wasn't very interesting. think that old mc viper + mark ruff ryder track was the highlight, otherwise i did switch off a little bit. didn't really pop off. i left shortly after and didn't stay for marcus nasty in the end (seen him a lot recently...).

so non-ravey compared to the rainbow in brum. bit of a shame.

there should be a thread up on here about the "state of london clubbing" atm as it used to be one of the best places to go out in the country and now it's really not. it's kind of a big deal.

yea i'm not being fair there. i'm sure there are. but you would have to go a long way to top the rainbow in brum and the jackin scene surrounding it imo right now.

if you want to enjoy a rave in london you need to go and see some london music

hardly surprising that trying to crowbar another city's scene into cable on a random one didn't work, surely?

The standard if raves I've been to in London recently, across the board musically, has been shockingly low. Went to FWD and there were literally 5 people on the dance floor and the system was so quiet you could hear them talking.
Went to see DJ EZ down in Brixton and the crowd was insanely standoffish, the standard of the other DJs piss poor, and the vybez non existent. Fabric live never seems to disappoint no matter how good the lineup. DMZ was the last great London night I can remember in over a year and even that didn't match up to the vybez of the off week me and Jambie played at 2:31.

shame Jacked was crap glad I didn't reach now.
your comment's a bit weird Slackk don't see any reason why London clubbers wouldn't be able to enjoy jackin just cos it originates elsewhere.
House is not a London scene but plenty of Londoners rave to it.

What nights you going to? There is something good every week in London we don't know how blessed we are sometimes.

Depends what kinda music you like I guess. I don't think a lot of parties are good for new music, but there are lot of parties where you can have a good time without a doubt

Cable is sick when we do it. It is not easy to fill though especially for a night just starting off

obviously there's loads of good shit on in london, no need 4 me to diss obviously, but if you can't big up the birmingham raving vibe here on the "jackin / electroline" thread then i don't know where you can really ;)

it's a big part of the appeal. it's just more "ravey" up there (fun, relaxed attitude, drugs, happy people enjoying themselves, loud chaotic music etc etc etc).

House has been a london scene for over 20 years

Plenty of stuff I'm sad not to be able to go to in London week in week out. Going to the same spots you were going to five years ago and expecting them to have the same vibe though is setting yourself up for disappointment.

No reason a jackin rave couldn't be good in London - just relies on enthusiasm. Cables a big club and it gets a lot of walk-up though which doesn't necessarily help if you're trying to build something new. Still, if you back these things the most important things are surely making the effort to go and trying to contribute to a good vibe.
